MacOSX reference configuration |
 |
The minimum hardware requirements for support by the helpdesk are computers able to run OSX10.6 at least.
The reference configuration consists of MacOSX on Apple
supported hardware plus a set of applications for the basic
work environment. |
| Central support tests and certifies the
configuration and makes new releases available. Users install
and maintain system and application
software. |
| File systems and backup recommendation
is to use the central server infrastructure as file repository (DFS, AFS) where daily backups are performed. |
| Purchasing (for CERN internal only) |
 |
Hardware: create your purchase requests to FP-PI. |
Software: Central support ensures availability
of licences for the reference configuration. Users must order "other" applications
themselves via CERN's Purchasing Service (FP-PI). |
Support |
| |
If your computer is within the MacOSX reference configuration, already registered and used exclusively for work purposes, you are entitled to call the helpdesk for support.
Hardware: Macintosh computers cannot be repaired on site and have to be taken to an external company. Please see here: Hardware support ! |
